Rounding matrix values

In the Matrix editor window, you can round arithmetically or randomly. In the process, you can choose whether you want to round to a specific number of decimal places or to a multiple of a specified value.

1.  Open a Matrix editor window with the matrices of your choice (Opening matrices).

2.  Click the  Round icon.

The Round... window opens.

Tip: Alternatively, from the Matrix editor menu, choose Arithmetic operations > Round.

3.  Make the desired changes:

Description

Round to section

Number of decimal places

If the option has been checked, you can set the number of decimal places to which you want to round in the input field.

Multiples of

If the option has been checked, the value is rounded up or down so that the new value is a multiple of the value specified for rounding (Example: “Round to a multiple of”).

Kind of rounding section

Arithmetically

If the option has been checked, each single value is rounded to the nearest value permitted.

Randomly

If this option has been checked, values are rounded up or down according to the particular share to be rounded. The matrix sum remains within the rounding accuracy.

4.  Confirm with OK.

The matrix values are rounded.

Note: Click the Combination of matrices and vectors symbol to access further options via functions in formulas such as Ceil, Floor and Truncate. These allow you to adjust the accuracy of values.
